What Sauces Does Starbucks Have?

Spread the love

Are you a coffee fanatic on your way down to Starbucks? Do you like to spruce up your cup of Joe and are wondering what sauces will enable you to do that? Perhaps you prefer a bit of sweetness to balance out the strong, bitter flavors of coffee. Nevertheless, you’ll be pleased you swung by. Here are all of the options available to you…

So, what sauces does Starbucks have? Starbucks offers three main sauces year-round. These are Mocha Sauce, Dark Caramel Sauce, and White Chocolate Mocha Sauce. All of these can be ordered with hot or cold coffee menu items. There are some additional seasonal sauces, such as Pumpkin Spice and Caramel Brulee.

So it’s not that many, really.

But there are syrups too which offer different other flavors.

But they’re not the same (as we shall discover later).

For now, you are likely wondering what sauces come included with what drinks by default.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

What Drinks Come With Sauces Added At Starbucks?

The following drinks and menu items have sauced added by default (unless you ask otherwise):

  • Pumpkin Spice Latte – Pumpkin Sauce.
  • Café Mocha – White Chocolate Mocha Sauce.
  • White Chocolate Mocha – White Chocolate Mocha Sauce.

Outside of this, you can add any one of the available sauces to any hot and cold drink.

You can ask the barista at the time of order, or if you are ordering online, you can always add the sauce you desire in the ‘add flavor’ section.

Other than this, some drinks may have syrups added (which are different from Starbucks sauces – but more on that later).

Can You Buy Starbucks Sauces?

Starbucks does not sell its sauces online, though you can often purchase their sauces from external vendors.

For instance, there is a particular brand on Amazon which sells a Mocha sauce that is reviewed particularly highly:

What Is The Difference Between A Sauce And A Syrup At Starbucks?

The difference between a sauce and syrup at Starbucks include; their consistency, how they are best consumed, and what they are made of.

As such, sauces and syrups affect the drinks in different ways.

As we shall see below.

Consistency

Starbucks sauces are relatively thick and, as such, add consistency to the drinks they are added to.

As such, unless they are properly mixed in, they do have a tendency to stick to the bottom of the cup.

Syrups, on the other hand, are much runnier and tend to distribute more evenly throughout.

Best Consumed

While they both add flavor, sauces and syrups are best used differently at Starbucks.

For instance, syrups tend to be a bit more versatile and can be added to more drinks on the menu, especially cold drinks such as iced lattes.

Whereas sauces, particularly the flavors available, tend to pair best with Frappuccino, Cappuccino, Macchiato, or hot Latte orders.

Ingredients Made From

Sauces and syrups are made of entirely different ingredients.

Let’s compare a sauce and syrup side by side to see this in action:

Mocha sauce: water, sugar, cocoa powder, fat-reduced cocoa powder, vanilla extract, sugar, cocoa powder, fat-reduced cocoa powder, vanilla extract.

Vanilla flavor syrup: water, sugar, natural flavoring, acidity regulator: citric

acid, preservative: potassium sorbate.

You can get the exact ingredients for all sauces/syrups on the Starbucks Nutrition page.

Flavor Options

At the time of writing, there are only three options when it comes to sauces.

Compare that with over twelve syrup flavors and variations:

  • Apple Brown Sugar
  • Brown Sugar Syrup
  • Caramel Syrup
  • Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
  • Hazelnut Syrup
  • Peppermint Syrup
  • Raspberry Syrup
  • Toasted Vanilla Syrup
  • Toffee Nut Syrup
  • Vanilla Syrup
  • Sugar-Free Vanilla Syrup

When To Add A Starbucks Sauce

You can ask for a Starbucks sauce in any hot drink, though they tend to work best in Americano, Macchiatos, Flat Whites, Lattes, and Cappuccinos.

If you are wondering why you would want to, the reasons are as follows:

  • Improve the taste and aroma of their drink,
  • Offer some variety,
  • Provide a bit of sweetness to satisfy a craving.

Lastly

So there we have it.

Three sauce options for the most part, with perhaps a few optional extras depending on availability and time of year.

Just don’t get confused with the syrups!

They are different, not just in terms of flavor but what they will do to your drink!
