Are you in, or heading to Chik Fil A and not sure whether to try their Polynesian sauce? Do not know whether you would like the taste and wondering what you can expect before you opt for it? Well, here is what you should know.
So, what does Polynesian sauce taste like? Polynesian sauce is sweet, sour, and somewhat tangy. It is also relatively thick in consistency. It has been compared to a somewhat, less fruity version of duck sauce. This particular dipping sauce pairs best with Chick Fil A nuggets, grilled nuggets, or Chick-fil-A Chick-n-Strips.
Sound like something you want to try?
And you probably should; it is one of their most popular, delicious sauces, after all.
But it is quite different from the taste of the classic Chick Fil A sauce.
Just bear that in mind.
Let us now look at the ingredients to help us get a better understanding of the flavors.
What Is Chick Fil A Polynesian Sauce Made Of?
Chick Fil A Polynesian sauce is made of a blend of vegetable oil, corn syrup, vinegar, and various herbs and spices.
In fact, the full ingredient list is as follows:
This is the full ingredient list stated directly on the packaging. You’ll also find it on the company website product page too.
But there is one thing to consider here.
Chick Fil A are not the only company to sell this particular sauce.
You’ll find other brands on Amazon, for instance too.
And often, these are a little different in terms of their recipes and ingredient list.
In fact, you’ll even be able to find variations of the sauce too – such as is the case with the Tattoo brand – who introduce spiciness into the mix.
And then there are the ‘copycat’ or DIY recipes online.
So with all this in mind, what makes up Polynesian sauce can vary somewhat.
And so can their taste.
But, just be aware that if you visit any Chick Fil A or order their official sauce, it will always be made of the same ingredients or taste the same.
Regardless of where you are in the country.
What Do You Eat Polynesian Sauce With?
Polynesian sauce is sold as a dipping sauce. So, it is ideal for your potato waffle fries, nuggets, and strips.
There is no reason why you cannot or should not either dip, or put some in your sandwich though!
And this is assuming you are eating the sauce in a Chick Fil A restaurant.
That may not always be the case.
And if not, you’ll be pleased to know that this is a very versatile sauce that can be used with many different foods.
Other sandwiches, pizza, onion rings, potato chips. These all pair very well.
And the good news is, this sauce is actually quite easy to get your hands on if you do take a liking to it, as we shall now see below.
Where Can You Buy Polynesian Sauce
You can buy Polynesian Sauce from various outlets – whether that be in a Chick Fil A restaurant, through their website, or at participating retail stores.
In fact, just like many of the sauces available at this popular sandwich chain, the company has made larger, 8oz squeezy bottles available.
You can either order pickup or delivery, or you can simply add it to your meal.
Here is the product page to do so online.
If you’re at a Chick Fil A restaurant, just ask for the larger bottle and if they have any lying around, you should be able to buy it too.
And outside of Chick Fil A, the sauce is now widely available at some of the larger grocery store chains.
Along with the classic Chick Fil A sauce, Polynesian sauce can be found at:
- Albertson’s
- Food Lion,
- Harris Teeter,
- HEB,
- Kroger,
- Publix,
- Safeway
- Target,
- Walmart,
- Winn-Dixie,
And what’s more, you can even buy the sauce directly on Amazon.
So you can add it to any existing Amazon order, or even make the most of Prime to get it as soon as possible!
How To Make Your Own Polynesian Sauce
If you feel inclined, you can make your own Polynesian Sauce using the following ingredients and instructions. Just consider it will not taste exactly the same as the original, but it does come pretty close!
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Catalina Salad Dressing
- 4 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon of Ground Mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of Onion Powder
- 6 tablespoons of Honey
Instructions
- Add all of the ingredients in a bowl and whisk.
- Serve immediately or refrigerate. Generally, refrigerating for 1-2 hours will help bring out the flavors.
You can also jar or bottle this up.
So long as it is airtight, it should last for 2-3 weeks!
Finally
Polynesian sauce is a classic and popular favorite.
And for good reason.
The sweet, sour, and subtle tanginess just work so well with most of the menu over at Chick Fil A.
But don’t let that limit you.
You can use it on so many different foods.
It’s no real surprise that Chick Fil A made this sauce widely available in 8oz squeezy bottles – or that they have since distributed it to all of the major grocery store chains.
So pick some up and give it a try.
Or if you like the idea of making some yourself, the above recipe is the one to use!
