You want to buy some hoisin sauce. Problem is, you don’t know where to look or where to find it at the grocery store. I get it, I’ve been there. Having finally managed to locate it after a frustrating store-wide search, I thought I’d let you know.
So, where do you find hoisin sauce in a grocery store? Hoisin sauce is often kept in the Asian food section of large grocery stores. Failing that you can always check the International food aisle. In smaller stores, it is usually found in the condiment aisle.
So it may not be in the same place in every store.
That explains the difficulty in finding it, at least!
So in the interest of time, it’s probably in your best interest to ask a member of the stores’ staff first.
That should save you a lot of time and frustration.
At least if they are knowledgeable of their own store and where things are!
Unless of course, you are looking to add steps to your daily Fitbit count.
And you like the thrill of the hunt.
I digress.
So now we know roughly where to find it – what grocery stores stock this widely popular thick, fragrant sauce?
What Grocery Stores Sell Hoisin Sauce?
Hoisin sauce is available at most, if not all of the major grocery store chains. Although, the larger stores will often have more brands and variations of the sauce for sale.
So it depends on what you are looking for here.
If you are looking for a general, popular brand of hoisin sauce – you shouldn’t struggle to find it.
But if you are looking for something more particular, say a low-salt option, a vegan option, gluten-friendly option – then you may need to look online. As we will soon discuss in the following section.
That being said, the major US grocery store chains will sell the sauce – and from various brands:
- Walmart
- Whole Foods,
- Safeway,
- Kroger,
- Costco,
- Publix
- etc.
You should also be able to find it in a lot of the smaller, independent grocery stores too.
You know the family-run ones that seem to sell everything and anything.
But it may be a little more expensive there – just remember that.
Now here’s a tip.
To ensure your local store, large or much smaller, has your sauce in stock before you arrive – give them a call.
Besides, it only takes a couple of minutes of your time and can save a wasted journey!
Other Places To Buy Hoisin Sauce
Beyond brick-and-mortar grocery stores, your other main option for buying the sauce is online.
You can probably guess where I am going to recommend here.
Amazon.
Where else?!
If you click here to visit Amazon, you’ll soon see why.
So many options!
A lot of brands, different options, and variations too.
And some to suit all different requirements and preferences.
Plus, you can also compare the ingredients, prices, and reviews quickly.
And here’s a major benefit.
You can buy in bulk.
Saving those time-consuming and confusing visits to the grocery store where you don’t know where to look!
Finally
Hoisin sauce is great. When you have it.
Before then, it can be a tricky to find, elusive sauce.
But thankfully, pretty much all of the grocery stores now stock it.
If you’re feeling brave – start with the Asian/International food aisle.
Otherwise, go to the condiment aisle.
Or ask a member of staff.
Besides, I’ve seen it on the end of aisles and on promotion stands from time to time.
That happens too.
Or just scrap that altogether.
Get it on Prime.
And get it as soon as later on today.
