What Sauces Does Portillo’s Have?

Spread the love

Are you heading eating down at Portillo’s? Wondering what sauces and condiments they offer on the menu and what you can eat along with your Chicago-style food? Well, here are your options.

So, what sauces does Portillo’s have? Portillo’s offers seven different sauces. These are BBQ sauce, Honey Mustard Sauce, Hot Giardiniera Sauce, Cheese sauce along with packets of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Some menu items also include sauces by default. Chicken sandwiches for instance, come with mayo included.

And then we have the dressings.

There are five in total.

Caesar dressing, Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette, House Dressing, Lite Italian Dressing, and Ranch Dressing.

Not sauces per se, but certainly a means of adding flavor to your salad, should you proceed to order one!

But back to the sauces, particularly that last one. What is Portillo’s Giardiniera’s sauce like exactly?

Let’s find out!

What Is Portillo’s Giardiniera Sauce?

Portillo’s Giardiniera (jar-din-air-ah) sauce is a relish made from peppers, vegetables (pickled peppers, cauliflower, carrots, and celery), and oil.

Portillo’s does not make their own Giardiniera in store, but instead, the Marconi brand produces a sauce specifically for Portillo’s.

It is commonly eaten with Italian Beef, Sauce, and Pizzas Sandwiches. Although, it is a versatile sauce that can be eaten with just about anything.

Beyond just the original Giardiniera, Portillo’s has also made a Hot Giardiniera Sauce by blending giardiniera relish into a creamy dipping sauce.

This comes included in the Spicy Chicken Sandwich menu item by default.

Do You Have To Pay For Sauces At Portillo’s?

Some sauces are free to use and enjoy at Portillo’s, so long as you are ordering food. This is mainly for the packet sauces: ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.

However, other condiments including a serving of BBQ sauce, Honey Mustard, or Giardiniera are charged per serving. The total price does differ and range depending on restaurant location and how much you order.

For instance, I have seen the following prices for each serving of sauce:

  • BBQ Sauce – $0.39 each
  • Honey Mustard Sauce – $0.49 each
  • Hot Giardiniera Sauce – $0.89 each
