Have you heard or been introduced to Bistro sauce? Not wondering what it is how to use it, exactly? Well, I’ll be answering these very questions right here today.
So, what is Bistro sauce? Bistro sauce is a mix and blend of common condiments, typically ketchup, mayonnaise, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, lemon juice, garlic, and parsley, among a few other ingredients. This sauce is generally very versatile and can be eaten with numerous different foods.
And it’s one of those sauces that you can make from home quite easily yourself.
It’s not the kind of sauce that you necessarily need to buy.
In fact, there are not many Bistro sauce brands or products on the market.
At least at the time of writing.
So you will need a recipe.
And we will get to my favorite one shortly.
But first.
What Is Bistro Sauce Made Of?
Most recipes of Bistro sauce include ketchup, mayonnaise, horseradish mustard, lemon juice, garlic, and parsley. Although, occasionally, you will find recipes that include Worcestershire sauce, tobacco, cajun seasoning, and paprika too.
What Does Bistro Sauce Taste Like?
Bistro sauce is creamy, sweet, tangy, and has a hint of spice. It is smooth in consistency.
Although, the exact flavor will depend on the exact ingredients used, and the quantities of each one.
For instance, this sauce can be made hotter with the addition of more tobacco (or an equivalent hot sauce).
At the same time, more ketchup will make it a little sweeter, and more mayonnaise a little creamier.
What Do You Use Bistro Sauce For?
Bistro sauce can be eaten with a number of different foods and dishes. It is most popularly used as a spread for sandwiches, although it makes a great sauce for a burger too.
Other than that, Bistro sauce can be eaten with various different meats, as a kind of marinade, or it can be used as a dipping sauce for fries (either regular or sweet potato fries).
It has been known to be eaten with seafood, too.
Bistro Sauce Recipe
Bistro sauce is easy to make but does require a number of different ingredients.
Let us now look at how you can make some at home:
Ingredients
- 2 Cups of Mayonnaise
- 1 Tablespoon of Prepared Horseradish
- 2 Tablespoons of Tomato Ketchup,
- 1 Tablespoon of Mustard
- 1 Tablespoon of Freshly Chopped Parsley
- 1 Tablespoon of Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 Teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Teaspoon of Tabasco Sauce
- 1 Teaspoon of Cajun Seasoning
- 1 Teaspoon of Paprika
- 2 Minced Garlic Cloves
Method
In a large bowl, add and mix all of the ingredients together thoroughly until combined.
At that stage, you can either serve or use.
Alternatively, if you transfer to the fridge for an hour the ingredients will infuse and it will generally, be more enjoyable.
If you want to store this sauce for future use, then be sure to transfer it to an airtight container.
This sauce will generally last at peak freshness for 3-5 days.
Finally
Bistro sauce is pretty easy to make.
But that doesn’t make it simple in taste and flavor.
Quite the opposite.
So give the above recipe a try.
Besides, you likely have the ingredients lying around already.
Or if not, it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge to get them.
You’ll soon see how wonderfully versatile this creamy, sweet, and somewhat hot sauce is.
