Are you looking for pasta sauce recipes and stumbled across Rosa sauce? Wondering what it is, what it is made of, and what it tastes like? Well, here is all you will want to know.
So, what is Rosa sauce? Rosa sauce is a savory, creamy pasta sauce that combines Marinara with Alfredo sauce. It is naturally pink in color. This is a rich and decadent sauce, where recipes will also call for the addition of cream, whole milk, or several kinds of cheese.
This is one of the iconic pink sauces.
And it’s incredibly comforting and delicious too.
Let us now take a look at the typical recipe and what you can expect should you decide to use some!
What Is Rosa Sauce Made Of?
Rosa sauce is typically made of tomatoes (such as plum), cream, cheese, butter, and other herbs and seasonings, such as parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Some recipes will even include whole milk and other cheeses too, such as Romano.
What Does Rosa Sauce Taste Like?
Rosa sauce is rich, creamy, and cheesy in flavor. It also has a subtle sweetness from the tomatoes.
Can You Buy Rosa Sauce
You can buy Rosa Sauce, and there are two ways of doing so. Firstly you can buy a Marinara and an Alfredo sauce and combine them together, or you can buy seasoning packets that you will need to add to other ingredients.
If you are opting for the combination method, the Bertoli brand is a popular favorite.
From there you simply add both to a saucepan and thoroughly combine them together. Simmer until warm and you are ready to mix in with the pasta.
And that’s your Rosa sauce.
Or alternatively, you can simply buy a Parma Rosa sauce mix, like this one from Amazon, and follow the cooking instructions.
With a packet mix like Knorr, you will need to add butter and milk too, stirring it all together over medium-high heat and whisking continuously.
The alternative, of course, is making from scratch.
The following recipe is a tried and tested Rosa sauce that gets my personal approval!
How To Make Rosa Sauce
You can make rosa sauce by simply adding the ingredients to a saucepan at certain times and simmering gently.
Here are the exact ingredients needed and an overview of the process.
- 2 pounds of Plum Tomatoes
- ¼ cup of Heavy Cream
- ¼ cup of Olive Oil
- 2 teaspoons of Garlic Powder
- ½ cup of Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 2 tablespoons of Parsley Chopped
- 1 pinch of Sugar
- Salt and Pepper To Taste
- 1 dash of Cayenne Pepper
- Water (as needed).
Step One: Begin by adding your Olive oil, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to a saucepan.
Step Two: Gently simmer and cook until the tomatoes begin to disintegrate (around 10 minutes).
Step Three: Stir the mixture until it becomes smooth in consistency. You may need to add a little water if the sauce begins to stick to the pan.
Step Four: Stir in the cream, add a pinch of sugar, and stir to combine.
Step Five: Remove from the heat and immediately stir in your Parmesan and Parsley, until the cheese has melted.
Step Six: Serve or incorporate into your hot, cooked pasta!
Rosa sauce is a delicious decadent pasta sauce.
And thankfully, it’s easy to make, (indirectly) buy, or prepare.
So if you are looking for a warming, comforting pasta sauce, and you simply love creamy sauces and cheese; give it a go.
